Pioneer Cemetery, also known as Box Butte Cemetery, was established in 1886 and abandoned in 1907.
In 1882 Frances Vidlak married Joseph Yechout in David City, Nebraska. ________________________________________________________________________ *Extract from The Hemingford Herald, Hemingford, Box Butte County, Nebraska, February 14, 1896. Mrs. Joseph Yechout who lived in the the Sand Hills died at her home last Friday. She was the mother of seven children. The youngest only about 2 1/2 years of age. Her death is a severe loss to Mr. Yechout and the little ones. He has the sympathy of the entire community. Mrs. Yechout who died in the Sand Hills last week, was brought out to Box Butt Cemetery for burial. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Leaving behind her husband Joseph and six daughters; Anna, Mary Helen, Josephine, Jennie, Frances, and Rose, and one son; William. *Note: There is no headstone to mark her grave.
