When Edie was about three years old the family removed to Scott County, Arkansas where she lived during the majority of her school years. Edie's older half sister Julie Holland married Jesse Black and the two families were acquainted. About 1904 Lafayette Holland moved his family to the Chickasaw Nation landing at a small community outside Courtney which would later be called Belleville. In 1908 Edie's sister Julie Black's family and the extended Black family joined them at Belleville. About 1910 Edie Holland married Harlan Black, a younger brother of Jesse. In the late 19teens the couple joined Edie's father Lafayette Holland and her younger brothers Mouton and Lee Holland as they moved to Whitebead in Garvin County, a short distance outside Shawnee. A daughter Nannie Mae Black was born about 1915. Edie Black died in Dec 1922. Nannie Mae married Palmer Davis and had a son Joe by Scott Black
