Julia Ann Holland was born Sept 22, 1879 in Bienville Parish, Louisiana to Lafayette and Hannah (Houston) Holland. Her mother died when she was five years old. When she was about 12 years old her family moved to Scott County, Arkansas where she attended school. She married Jesse Black Oct. 21, 1900. Three sons were born at Chant; Fines Oct 11, 1901, Plumis Dec 1, 1902, and Dubert Bill Dec 19, 1905. Julia's father Lafayette Holland first came to what is today Belleville about 1904. Julia and her family soon followed and made Belleville, OK their home in 1908 living west of Mike Bourland's home. The canvass tent used upon their arrival was replaced with a small two room home. A beautiful home was built in 1916 with the finest hand-picked lumber without a single knot. The four bedroom home had sidewalks, a two car garage, and an electric generator, the first in the community. Julia continued to run the farm after she was widowed in 1934. She died Aug 2, 1941 and was buried in Belleville's Bourland Cem.
