Grand Island (Nebraska) Daily Independent October 19, 1995 NEW BRITAIN, Conn.--Leonard F. Walkowiak, 71, of New Britain, Conn., formerly of Elba, died Sept 11, 1995, at a New Britain hospital. Mr. Walkowiak was cremated and his cremains will be buried at a later date in St. Joseph Cemetary at Elba. Mr. Walkowiak was born Nov. 8, 1923, at Elba to Michael J. and Jenny Walkowiak. After leaving Elba, he lived in Omaha and New York and settled in New Britain, Conn. He worked for a trucking firm until his health began to fail. Survivors include two son, Michael and Patrick; four sisters, Margaret Svoboda of Burwell, Irene Peters of St. Paul, Louise Shultz of Fort Madison, Iowa, and Leann Ayres of Gladstone, Ill.; and two brothers, Arthur of Lubbock, Texas, and Hubert of Las Vegas.
