Bio
Ruth Miller, 94, of Franklin and formerly of Wharton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at a Bryan hospital following a brief illness. She was born on November 27, 1929 in Wharton, Texas to the late Joe W. Joines and Viola Barnett Joines. Ruth was raised in the Wharton area and attended Hungerford and Wharton schools, graduating from Wharton High School in 1947. She was a bookkeeper for most of her life. Ruth enjoyed cooking, sewing, visiting with family in San Angelo, being around her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was a faithfull member of Abell Street Church of Christ in Wharton, active in many programs with the church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Billie Jo Taylor; son, Leonard Miller, Jr.; brothers, Bill Joines and Joe Joines, Jr.; and great-grandson, Weston Machart. Ruth will be missed by her sister, Jeanie Lowe; grandchildren, DeeAnn Schumbera and husband, John, Joe W. Mask and wife, Julie, Racheal Martin and husband, Brad, and Steven Miller; great-grandchildren, Brendon Miller, Anagayl and Eliska Shumbera, Jennifer Mask, Celeste Sanders, Addisyn Sanders, Karli Eastlick, and Dalton Miller; and numerous great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be John Joines, Tom Joines, Joe Ray Joines, Terry Lowe, Gary Joines, and Mike Joines. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Joines, Jonny Lowe, and the grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will begin at 9 am on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at the chapel of Wharton Funeral Home, with funeral services following at 10 am. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Arrangements are under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home of Wharton.
