Born in the village of Bracice, county of Caslov, Bohemia, Austrian Empire (now in the Czech Republic). Perhaps the Marie Cuda (age 28, Bohemia) who immigrated to the United States with Joseph Cuda (19, Bohemia) on the SS Smidt , which arrived in New York City from Bremen, Germany on July 16, 1868. Joseph may be identical with Joseph Cuda . Maria Cuda, age 38, of Omaha, Nebr. married John Wahl on February 15, 1869 at Omaha by a Justice of the Peace. Wenzel Manshark and Katrina Manshark were witnesses. 1885 census (Linwood Township, Butler County, Nebr.): Mary Wall (54, farming, Bohemia), Emalie (daughter, 12, Nebr.), Anastasie (daughter, 10, Nebr.), and John Novak (servant, 24, Bohemia). 1900 census (Linwood Township, Butler County, Nebr.): Mary Wahl (August 1830, Bohemia, widow, mother of two children, both living, immigrated 1868), living with her daughter and son-in-law Emma and James Stanislav.
