Birth date and full name provided by Mari Matulka (#50950498). Born in the village of Strampouch, county of Caslav, Moravia, Bohemia, Austrian Empire (now in the Czech Republic). Married Marie Palodnicek/Polednik. Emigrated to the United States in 1876. The passenger list for the ship Oder , which arrived in New York City on November 11, 1876, includes the following family from Bohemia: Frant Tureck, age 51, farmer; Maria, 27; Josefa, 13; Anna, 9; and Johann, 6. 1880 census (Bone Creek Precinct, Butler County, Nebr.): Frank Toorek (age 53, widower, farmer, born Bohemia), Joseph (son, 28, Bohemia), Josepha (daughter, 18, keeping house, Bohemia), Annie (daughter, 14, Bohemia), and John (son, 10, Bohemia). 1885 census (same location): Frank Turek (56, farmer, widower, Bohemia), Anna (daughter, 17, Bohemia), and John (son, 15, Bohemia). His daughter Anna married Joseph Capek on April 14, 1888 at David City by a County Judge. She died between March 1889 (birth of her son Edward) and June 1893 (husband's second marriage).
