According to his probate file he lived in Linwood Township, Butler County, Nebr., died March 22, 1900, and was survived by his widow Katerina and seven children: Anna Shonka, Anton Sobolik, Mary Prokes, Lena Bruner, Joseph Sobolik, Katy Angel, and Helen Pospichal. 1870 census (Calmar Township, Winneshiek County, Iowa): Frank Sobolik (43, farm laborer, Bohemia), Cathrina (37, keeping house, Bohemia), Ana (9, Bohemia), Tona (6, Bohemia), Mary (2, Iowa), Varona Valsata (70, lives with son-in-law, Bohemia). 1880 census (Linwood Precinct, Butler County, Nebr.): Frank Sobolek (53, farmer, Bohemia), Catharine (wife, 46, keeping house, Bohemia), Anton (son, 15, Bohemia), Mary (daughter, 12, Iowa), Lena (daughter, 10, Iowa), Joe (son, 7, Iowa), Catharine (daughter, 5, Nebr.), Hellen (daughter, 2, Nebr.), Floney Vlasater (mother-in-law, 80, Bohemia). 1885 census (Linwood Township, Butler County, Nebr.): Frank Sobolik (57, farmer, Bohemia), Catharine (wife, 50, Bohemia), Anton (son, 20, Bohemia), Elenora (daughter, 15, Iowa), Joseph (son, 12, Iowa), Catharine (daughter, 10, Nebr.), Helen (daughter, 8, Nebr.), Frank Vlasata (mother-in-law, 84, Bohemia). 1900 census (Linwood Township, Butler County, Nebr.): Katerina Sobolik (born July 1834 Bohemia, widow, farmer, immigrated 1867). NOTE: His son Joseph Sobolik married Caroline Spatz on September 10, 1895 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Abie. He disappeared in 1909. '''''''''''' People's Banner (David City, Nebr.), April 5, 1900, p. 4, col. 4 Frank Sopolik [ sic ], living near Abie died March 23rd of paralysis. Deceased was born in Bohemia in 1827, making him 73 years of age at the time of his death. He came with his family to this country in 1872 and took up a homestead on his arrival. He has been sick about three months prior to his death and leaves a wife, five daughters and two sons. The remains were interred in the Abie Cemetery and a host of friends and neighbors gathered to pay him their last sad rites.
