Prochaska, for 62 years a resident in Abie vicinity and in Abie, died suddenly at his home in Abie Friday night, Oct. 4, at 6:00 a.m. He had been in failing health for 14 months, but was able to be up and around until the last. He had eaten breakfast that morning at his usual time and then went to lie down. He passed away soon afterwards. He was 64 years of age. Mr. Prochaska was born in Czecho Slovakia and came to America with his parents at the age of two years. They settled on a farm two miles north of Abie. At 22 years of age Mr. Prochaska was married to Miss Emma Shonka, of Schuyler. They lived for a number of years on their farm 1½ miles west of Abie. Later Mr. Prochaska was section foreman for the C. & N. W. railway company at Abie for two years and then he and Mrs. Prochaska moved back to their farm, where they lived until about two years ago, when they bought a residence in Abie and moved back to town. Besides his wife, Mr. Prochaska is survived by two brothers, Frank and Charles, living near Abie. Funeral services for Mr. Prochaska were held at Ss. Peter's and Paul's church at Abie Monday, Oct. 7, Rev. Victor Mlejnek officiating. The pallbearers were W. F. Roh, Joseph F. Roh, F. J. Uridil, F. J. Svoboda, J. V. Pavel and J. V. Samek. Burial was in the Catholic cemetery at Abie.
