Birth year calculated from age at death. Perhaps born in the village of Kacerov, town of Kralovice, county of Plzen, Bohemia, Austrian Empire (now in the Czech Republic), the birthplace of his son Vojtech (Albert). According to his son Joseph's marriage record he married Mary Henish. According to his probate file he died December 1, 1895 (contradicting the date inscribed on his gravestone) at Rescue, Saunders County, and was survived by two sons Albert (of Rescue) and Joseph (of Cedar Rapids). The probate file also mentions Albert's wife Veronika (Saunders County Probate file #236). 1880 census (Chester, Saunders County, Nebr.): Mike Burda (age 56, farmer, widower, born Bohemia), Albert (23, farmer, Bohemia), Flora (wife, 21, keeping house, Morava), and Annie (daughter, 11 months, born July, Nebraska).
