The Daily Tribune, Matagorda County, Texas, September 20, 2001: Jimmie Lloyd Pavlu Sr., age 61 of Wharton, and a longtime resident of Houston, died Tuesday, September 18, 2001 at his residence. He was born on November 1, 1939 in Wharton, the son of Wencel John and Alice Mae Dixon Pavlu. He was a 1958 graduate of Wharton High where he was President of the Senior Class and Captain of the WHS football team. He attended WCJC and graduated from San Houston State University in 1962 where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. He worked as a printed circuit designer for Compaq until his retirement this year. He loved to fish, hunt, cook, and bowl. He was an accomplished mechanic and enjoyed woodworking and listening to music. He enjoyed being a grandfather and watching his grandchildren at all of their special events. He was a former resident of Houston, Rosenberg, and Richmond for 40 years until moving back to Wharton in July, 2001. He was a former member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Cypress and a member of Holy Family Catholic Church of Wharton. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, September 21, 2001 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Wharton with Father Raymond Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Wharton Funeral Home. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Jill Marie and Kelly Oates of El Campo; sons, Jimmy Lloyd Pavlu Jr. and wife Gina of Fulshear, Joel C. Pavlu of Bay City and Ryan Charles Pavlu of Rosenberg; mother, Alice Pavlu of Wharton; and grandchildren, Chad Wesley Pavlu, Cameron Oates and Connor Oates. He was preceded in death by his father in 1978.
