TYNDALL REGISTER February 15, 1913 Mrs. Frank (Katherine) Carda, living five miles northeast of Tyndall, died at her home last Monday after a lingering illness. She was sixty-five years old and leaves besides a husband, three sons and three daughters to mourn her loss. The funeral services were held at Tabor Wednesday and were attended by a large number of friends from this place, who extend their most heartfelt sympathy to the relatives in their bereavement. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mrs. Frank Carda, 5 miles north of Tyndall, died of consumption Mon [10 Feb 1913] at age 66 [b ca 1846-47]. Burial Wed. in Tabor Catholic cemetery. Born in Bohemia, where she married Jos. Kukral & had 6 kids. He died there, she came to US with 6 small children in 1885 [1886 per Baca]. Two years later she married Frank Carda, a widower with 8 kids. No kids by second marriage. Left husband & 6 kids from first marriage: Mrs. Anton Carda, Mrs. Frank Hermansky, Mrs. Fred Honomichl, Joseph, John, and Frank Kukral, all residing in Bon Homme & Chas. Mix counties. SOURCE- Tabor Independent on 13 Feb 1913 NOTE- Death Certificate states COD as apoplexy. NOTE- Kukral here has one L as originally spelled; it seems the SD family added the second one about this time. The distant relatives in Ohio have kept the original spelling. ============================== She first married Josef Kukrall I, he died in Bohemia in a weight lifting competition. Which may explain several abdominal aortic aneurysms amongst his descendants. Their children: Josef II, Jan. 26, 1867- Feb. 11, 1962 (m. Rosa Carda) Mary, May 10, 1868-Jan. 4, 1960 (m. 1. Anton Carda, m. 2. Thomas Base) Jan (John), Apr. 27, 1877- (m. Agnes Cansky) Anna, b. abt 1879 (m. Frank Hermansky) Frank, b. abt 1880 NOTE- I have had no luck locating him. The ship's manifest from 1886 might indicate his original name was Frantisek, listing him as "Frant". NOTE- Tried again today 30 July 2023- nothing but the ship manifest. They arrived missing the 1880 census, then a 20 year lapse until 1900. But his mother's 1913 obit does state 6 children arrived in America with her and they were all living in 1913. Josephine, July 19, 1890- Dec. 29, 1968. m. Fred Honomichl --Was supposedly 2 weeks old when she arrived in America. Ship record states 11 mos. in 1886. ============================= On p. 125 of Baca Passenger List Vol. VI, I found: Ship arrival in NY of Katha. From cemetery records Her grave may be unmarked, that of her second husband, Frantisek, and his first wife, Maraja, was not marked until 1980 by grandson, Elmer James Carda, who wrote the Carda Heritage book. ============================ First husband- Marriage 21 Nov 1871 • Chřešťovice Parish, Pisek District, South Bohemia Parish register Chřešťovice - Book 13 image 34 Joseph Kukral was 23 years of age, Katherina was 28 and 1/2 years of age.
