Mrs. Anna Hein, resident of Butler county for many years, died shortly before noon Tuesday morning, April 9, at her home in David City, following illness of about two months. She was 86 years of age. Funeral services were held at St. Mary's Catholic church, David City, at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, April 11, conducted by Rev. Father Eckler, assisted by Rev. Father Harte and Rev. Father A. Borny. Singing was by St. Mary's choir. The pallbearers were Leo Bougger, Augustine Bougger, Joe Chmelka, Nick Hein, Jr., Edward Hein and Joe Vanek. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery, David City. Anna Kurt was Mrs. Hein's maiden name. She was born in Luxemburg in February, 1843, coming to the United States in girlhood. She was united in marriage to Nicholas Hein at Cascade, Iowa, on November 26, 1872 [sic]. A few years after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Hein moved to Butler county, locating on their farm near David City, where Mr. Hein passed away. Mrs. Hein moved to David City in 1903. Four children, two sons and two daughters, were born to Mr. and Mrs. Hein, and survive their parents. They are John Hein, Nick Hein, Mrs. Frank Bougger and Miss Anna Hein, all of David City. Mrs. Hein is also survived by one brother, Peter Kurt, of West Point, and by 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hein was a good and devoted mother and was loved by her many friends for her bright and cheerful disposition. She was a faithful member of St. Marys' Catholic church and of St. Mary's Altar Society. __ Card of Thanks – We wish to thank our many friends for the kindness and sympathy extended to us in the time of the sickness and death of our dear mother. ANNA HEIN Mrs. Anna Hein, of north David City, passed away at her home on Tuesday, April 9, 1929, after a long illness. During the entire winter she had been in failing health but only for the past seven weeks was she considered in a serious condition. She passed away after a stroke of paralysis. Mrs. Hein was born in Luxemburg, Germany, and passed her 86th birthday in February prior to her death. She came to the United States when 27 years of age and went to Cascade, Iowa, where she was married to Nicholas Hein. They came to Nebraska and settled on a farm near David City. Here their four children were born and reared to young men and women. Mr. Hein preceded his wife to the grave thirty-two years ago, but Mrs. Hein stayed on the farm with her family until six years later when she moved to this city to spend her reclining years. Funeral services were conducted from St. Mary's Catholic church at 9:30 Thursday morning, with Father Eckler, assisted by Father Harte, of Center, and Father Borney, of Schuyler, officiating. Burial took place in the Catholic cemetery. Pall bearers were six grandsons, Joe Vanek, Joe Chmelka, Nick and Ed. Hein and Leo and Augustine Bougger. Deceased leaves to mourn her death two sons, John and Nick Hein, and two daughters, Mrs. Frank Bougger and Miss Anna Hein, all of this city. There are also left sixteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
