Norfolk, Nebraska; Wednesday, January 16, 2008 Obituary Norfolk-- Evonne E. Vyhlidal, 75, of Norfolk, died Tuesday, January 1, 2008, at Faith Regional Health Services. Services were at Mount Olive Lutheran Church on January 4, with burial in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Johnson-Stonacek Funeral Chapel was in charge of the arrangements. She was born Dec. 12, 1932, in Norfolk, the daughter of Frank and Viola (Ulrich) Carrico. She was baptized at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Norfolk and confirmed at St John's Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Evonne graduated from Norfolk High School in 1952 and ranked third highest grade-point average in her graduating class and attended Norfolk Junior College. Evonne married Leander Vyhlidal on October 30, 1965, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus. She worked as a stenographer in the medical records department of the Norfolk Regional Center and in 1980 transferred to Norfolk Veterans Home where she worked as the secretary to the administrator until 1984 when she retired due to ill health. Evonne was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Norfolk and VFW Post 1644 Auxiliary of Norfolk. Evonne is survived by her husband, Leander Vyhlidal of Norfolk; step-mother, Frances Carrico of Norfolk; her aunts, Joy Nelson of Norfolk and Loretta L. Johnson of Mesa, Ariz.; and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, one half-sister, Jean Ann. The Rev. Frank Brink officiated. Music was congregational singing. Pallbearers were Sam Kohler, John Kohler, James Kohler, Allen Jensen, David Sullivan and Jim Vyhlidal. The family request memorials to Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Norfolk.
