BESSIE ZELENY Graveside services for Bessie E. Zeleny were conducted Tuesday morning, May 9, at the Bohemian National Cemetery at Bruno with the Rev. Father Daniel Galas of St. Charles Catholic Church, North Bend officiating. Mrs. Zeleny, 92, died Saturday, May 6, at the Hooper Care Center, Hooper. Bessie E. Zeleny, the daughter of Wenceslaus and Catharine Kunes Ptacek, was born February 19, 1903, in Saunders County. She grew up in Saunders County and taught school in Kansas for several years before her marriage. On July 25, 1923, she was married to Edward Zeleny at Plasi. Four children were born to his union. She lived most of her life in the Bruno and Prague areas and lived in Fremont for several years and at Wahoo for two years before moving to the Hooper Care Center at Hooper. Survivors include two sons, Eugene Zeleny of Blair and Leonard Zeleny of Colon, a daughter, Hilda Grover of Omaha, nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Edward, who died July 7, 1987, a son, William, brothers, Ben, Fred, Jim and John Ptacek and sisters, Agnes Slaby and Mary Stava.
