CECILIA SABATA Long-Time Resident Passed Away at Home of Her Son Funeral services for Mrs. Cecilia Sabata, long-time resident of Butler county, who passed away October 3 at the home of her son, Joe L. Sabata, with whom she resided, were held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5, at Assumption Catholic church, Appleton, conducted by Rev. C. Rada, who said requiem mass. Singing was by Appleton church choir. The pallbearers were Frank Sabata, Jr., Bohumil Kominek, George Styskal, Joe Svoboda, Charles Sabata and Louis Sabata, all grandsons of the deceased. The Ladies' Altar society attended the service and went to the cemetery in a body. Mrs. Sabata was in her 88th year. She came to America from Slavetice, Moravia, with her husband, Joseph Sabata, and they settled in Butler county, which was her home for 64 years. To them were born ten children, five sons and five daughters, two of whom Mrs. John Kozisek and Mrs. John Kominek, have passed on. The surviving children are Mrs. Joe Styskal of Grant; Frank J. Sabata, Mrs. Anton Maca, Charles C. Sabata, Mrs. Anton L. Svoboda and Anton Sabata, all of David City; James Sabata, of Paxton; and Joe L. Sabata, with whom she made her home. Mr. Sabata passed away in 1921. Besides her children, she leaves 65 grandchildren and 72 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Sabata was a faithful member of Assumption church and the Altar society. She was a good mother and grandmother and had many friends. Although in poor health for 23 years, she was bedfast for two months preceding her death.
