Bio
Daughter of Joseph Smetana and Johanna Polacek. Antonia was born June 1, 1828 in Bohusoudov, House #8. She married Anton Bruner February 23, 1832. To this union were born 9 children, one of them dying in infancy (Katherina) and another dying at the young age of 15 (Frantiska). Antonia's mother, Johanna died 30 Jan 1857 in Bohusoudov, Moravia and her father Joseph died 17 Jul 1873 in Bohusoudov, Moravia (Just 5 months after Anton and Antonia's 15 year old daughter). With the ambition to start a new life, the Bruner's set off to America in 1874. They hopped on the ship the Nurnberg in Bremen, Germany and landed in Baltimore, Maryland May 4, 1874. From here, they traveled to Butler County, Nebraska where the lands reminded them of their home in the old country. They lived here the remainder of their lives and watched their remaining 7 children grow and start families of their own. * All Czech records/research by Jennifer Styskal Faust
