CHAS. IRELAN IS CALLED BY DEATH - WAS WELL KNOWN Former Feed and Hitch Yard Operator Died at Age of 84 Years, Four Months and Six Days Charles W. Irelan, 84, died Wednesday at 3:50 p.m. at his home at 1220 Drake avenue following a lingering illness of many months. Born on a farm two miles southeast of Cincinnati he grew to young manhood there and helped his widowed mother, Mrs. Elija Irelan with the operation of the land. It was there that he was united in marriage to Alice A. Sterner June 27, 1882. The wife survives. After leaving the farm Mr. and Mrs. Irelan lived at Cincinnati for a time and later at Shawville. They moved to Centerville some 30 years ago and Mr. Irelan joined Fred Hiatt in the operation of the Hiatt & Irelan feed and hitchyard off the northwest corner of the square where Gavronsky now operates a junk storage yard. Mr. Irelan retired from business about 11 years ago. There are no surviving children and the deceased was the last of a family of eight. He was widely known and many friends and relatives mourn his passing. Funeral services are to be held at the Miller funeral home Saturday at 2 p.m. with Dr. H. E. Trimble, pastor of the Central Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill cemetery. Willis Irelan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elija Irelan, was born near Cincinnati, Iowa, November 4, 1857, and departed this life at his home in Centerville, Iowa, March 11, 1942, at the age of 84 years, 4 months and 7 days. He grew to manhood near Cincinnati and assisted his mother on the farm for several years. On June 27, 1882, he was united in marriage to Miss Alice Sterner, who survives his passing. Mr. Irelan moved to Centerville about 30 years ago. For several years he operated a feed store in the city. About 11 years ago he retired from active business life. Mr. Irelan was a man of good character and a good citizen. He has many relatives and friends who mourn his passing. Funeral services were held from the Miller funeral home Saturday afternoon with H.
