The Banner-Press (David City, Nebr.), December 21, 1953, p. 8, col. 4 & 5 Funeral Services Held At Prague For Mrs. Shalon Mary Barbara Simanek, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ignac Simanek, was born Sept. 26, 1869 [ sic ], in Plasi, and died Dec. 9 in Prague. She was married to James Shalon in Plasi. To this union were born two children, a son and a daughter. Preceding her in death were her husband, one sister, one brother and her parents. After the death of her husband she made her home with her children, brothers and sisters. She is survived by one son, Nick A. Shalon of Wahoo; one daughter, Mrs. Emil Vachal of Ulysses; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Other members of her immediate family include four brothers, Charles and Thomas of Prague, Joe of Wahoo and Adolph of Corpus Christi, Tex., and two sisters, Mrs. Max Vlasak of Prague and Mrs. Frank Holub of Wahoo. Funeral services were held Dec. 12 at St. John's Catholic church in Prague. Burial was in the Dwight Catholic cemetery, Father Rezabek in charge. Pallbearers were Eugene Vlasak, Charles Simanek Jr., George Simanek, Joe Benal, John Sudik and Thomas Shalon.
