Reisdorf Died After Illness of Six Days Stricken with paralysis on Friday, March 28, Mrs. John L. Reisdorf departed this life on Thursday, April 3. Her death occurred at her home two and a half miles north of David City. Funeral services were held last Saturday at 9:30 a. m. in St. Mary's Catholic church in David City and was one of the largest attended funerals that have been held in this city for some time. People came from far and near to pay respects to their departed friend. Rev. Father J. Caraher, pastor of St. Mary's church, conducted the services. He was assisted by Rev. Father A. G. Klein of Brainard and Rev. Father Blaclia of Shelby. The pall bearers were Hubert Buntgen, John Hilger, John Litty, Nicholas Miller, P. N. Meysenburg and Heller Smith. Interment was in the Catholic cemetery, David City. Those coming from elsewhere to attend the funeral were Mrs. Reisdorf's two sons, Nicholas of St. Joseph, Mo., and Joseph of Petersburg, Neb., a sister, Mrs. Carrie Reisdorf of Osceola, a niece, Mrs. Nicholas Rupert of Alton, Iowa, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Jacob Hiller of Belvidere, Neb., Mr. and Mrs. John Pittz, of Primrose, Neb., Mr. and Mrs. Peter Reisdorf and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hastert of Shelby, and Mr. and Mrs. John Thomas of Bellwood. In Mensdorf, Germany, was where Mrs. Reisdorf was born, on July 28, 1841 [ sic ]. She lacked a few months of being 72 [ sic ] years of age at the time of her death. She came to the United States [when] 11 years of age and shortly after arriving in this country was married to J. L. Reisdorf in Chicago. They lived in Chicago six years and then came to Nebraska locating near David City. The land on which Mrs. Reisdorf had been living was land they homesteaded when first coming to this county 35 years ago. Seven children survive Mrs. Reisdorf. They are Nicholas Reisdorf of St. Joseph, Mo., Joseph Reisdorf, of Petersburg, Neb., Mrs. Victor Hilger, Mrs. Michael Birkel and John and Jacob Reisdorf, who live near David City, and Anna, Peter and Margaret Reisdorf, who are living at home. Mr. Reisdorf died 15 years ago. She also leaves three sisters and one brother living in Germany, one brother, Nicholas Hastert, of Alton, Iowa, and a sister, Mrs. Charles Reisdorf, of Osceola.
