Lud (Dudley) Lavicky was born August 15, 1909 To Ludvik and Anastazia (Stazie) Hotovy Lavicky on a farm northwest of Dwight. He attended country school district 94 and graduated from Dwight Public school in 1926. The same year the Dwight basketball team Class K won the state tournament in Lincoln. In the 1930s Dudley took up boxing with the Golden Glove Club in Omaha. Joie Phelan was his trainer. He had several bouts at Krugs Park, which is now Phony Park. Later he returned to the farm as there were many chores raising cattle, horses and farming. On May 26, 1936, Dudley married Agnes Bartek at St. Wenceslaus Church in Wahoo. Ray Sedlak's band played for the wedding dance at Wanahoo Park. The Lavicky's farmed until Dudley died in 1976 at the age of 67. In August 1966, Dudley won a 1965 red Mustang at the Wilber Czech Festival. He said that was a miracle because he only bought one ticket that won him the car. It was the family car.
