Funeral services for Mary Ruth Glossup Sparkman, 95, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday May 10, at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Fred Lewis officiating. Interment will follow at Black Oak Cemetery with Doyle Glossup, Jerry Glossup, Ronny Glossup, Andy Wright, Ricky Chapman and Floyd Moss serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Larry Spradlin. Visitation will begin one hour prior to service time. Mrs. Sparkman died Saturday, May 7, 2011, at Sunny Springs Nursing Home. Mrs. Sparkman was born on Nov. 2, 1915, in Hopkins County, the daughter of James Martin and Georgia (Johnston) Glossup. She married Dewitt Sparkman on Dec. 8, 1951, in Rockwall. He preceded her in death in 1995. Mrs. Sparkman worked for H. D. Lee in Sulphur Springs, and after 21 years she retired from Sears and Roebuck in Dallas. Survivors include three sisters, Ida Mae Chapman Bratcher of Sulphur Springs, Mildred Reisbeck of Cheyenne, Wy., and Eva Nell Wilson of Maybank; and a brother, Weldon Glossup of North Hopkins; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Brenda Kay Sparkman; a sister Allie Glossup, and a brother, Martin Glossup.
