November 2, 1921 - August 21, 2012 MIDWEST CITY Charles "Grady" Marvel passed away peacefully on Tues., Aug. 21, 2012, at the home of his daughter Carolyn Winston in OKC. He was 90. He was born in Moore, OK, Nov. 2, 1921, to Rolo & Estelle Crouch Marvel. Grady grew up on his parents 160-acre dairy farm in Moore. He attended Moore High School where he played the French horn in the band. During WWII he was in the U.S. Navy, where he served on the Island of Saipan in the South Pacific. Following the war, he and his brothers established construction and painting businesses, building many of the homes in Rancho Village. Grady later formed Marvel Painting Co., a commercial painting business. After he retired from painting, he and his wife Velma established AIM Realty and owned and managed rental houses in Midwest City. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jack & Winston Marvel, & sister Gerona Droke. He is survived by his wife Velma of MWC; daughters, Linda Gradyne Harris, Vina Gayle Dollarhide, both of NM & Carolyn Marie Winston of OKC; step-children, Diana Crawford, Steve Wake & Dennis Case, all of Yukon, & Gary Case of Newalla; 4 grandchildren, Jim Harris Jr., Christine Strickland, Kellie Ross & Bill McMahon; 4 step-grandchildren, Sheryl Evans, Diane Stockinger, Gary & Tim Case, David & Michele Winston; 4 great-grandchildren; 9 step-great-grandchildren; many nieces & nephews. Throughout his life Grady was easy-going and witty, and enjoyed talking to just about anyone on any subject. He loved to work in the yard in the company of his pets. He once flew his own plane, and in retirement served as a volunteer park host. The last few years he was lovingly cared for by his daughter Carolyn and many kind caregivers. He will be missed for many reasons, but he will be remembered most of all for his unfailing good humor and his love for people. Services will be held Fri., Aug. 24, 2012, at 1:30 pm, at Eastern Avenue Church, Moore, OK. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, OKC. Services are under the direction of the John M.
