Bio

James Wesley Grubaugh was born 14 Mar 1838 to John Grubaugh (1802) and Elizabeth "Betsy" Riblet. He was the 2nd of 10 children born to this couple. The family was in the Mansfield, OH area until the mid 1860s when they went west. After a short stay in Indiana, most of the family continued further west to Nebraska where they homesteaded. James Wesley Grubaugh married Jane Shafer on 29 Mar 1860 in Ashland County, OH. Their first two children, Levi Washington Grubaugh (1861-1948) and Emma Jane Grubaugh Phillips Quick Lay (1864-1935) were born in OH, but their final child, Jessie Flora Grubaugh Ritter (!869-1947) was born in Marshall County, IN. Jane Shafer Grubaugh died on 18 Oct 1878 in Tippecanoe, Marshall, IN. James Wesley Grubaugh married Mary J. Lee on 7 Jan 1882 in Marshall County, IN. James and Mary adopted a child, Dollie Elsie Grubaugh sometime before 1900. James Wesley Grubaugh died on 15 Jun 1901 in Marshall County, IN and is buried next to his first wife in Summit Chapel Cemetery.
