Bio

REFUGIO - Thelma Ross Mayfield, 93, of Refugio, died Friday, May 13, 2005. She was born May 5, 1912, in Pittsburg, to the late William Terrell and Annie Kate Merrill LaGrand. She was a retired nurse for Refugio Memorial Hospital with more than 30 years of service. She was a Methodist. Survivors: daughters, Tommie Ann Davidson of Lake Whitney and Woodie Lee Weitzel of Refugio; stepson, Rudolph Mayfield of Universal City; sister, Margie Lee Hammons of Otisco, Ind.; brother, Bates LaGrand of Richardson; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by: husband, T.C. Mayfield; stepdaughter, Martha Gies; and stepsons, Robert Mayfield and Earl Mayfield. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church in Refugio, the Rev. John Alsop officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Moore Funeral Home, Refugio, 361-526-4334.
