The Banner-Press David City, Nebraska Oct 28, 1999 Verna Hladky Schuyler -- Verna A Hladky, 85, of Schuyler died Tuesday, Oct 19, 1999, at the Schuler Nursing Center. Mrs Hladky was born Oct 31, 1913, in Octavia to Joseph and Anna (Sloup) Lajba. She attended Octavia schools. She married Adolph Frank Hladky on March 30, 1944, in Butler County. They moved to Schuyler from North Bend in about 1968. She was a homemaker. Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Marcella and Richard Brousek of Omaha and Verna Mae Hladky of Schuyler; three sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond and Donna of Tekamah, Richard and Sharon of Columbus, and Donald and Susan of Windsor, Colo; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Helen White of Channel View, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband on March 24, 1970; three sisters, Marie, Anna, and Bessie; and five infant brothers. Services were held Saturday, Oct 23, at Svoboda Funeral Home North Chapel in Schuyler with the Rev Earl Underwood officiating. Burial was at the Schuyler Cemetery. The pallbearers were Kenneth Hlady, John Hladky, Tim Brousek, Greg Brousek, Bob Brousek, and Kerry Rezek. Honorary pallbearers were Steve Hladky, Sam Hladky, Nathan Hladky, Glenn Horalek, and Joe Wieser. Arrangements were made by Svoboda Funeral Home. Contributor: Patty C (46926670)
