Bio

Elbert M. Coffman was one of eight children born in Parker County. His brothers were Al, Bud, and William "Bill" Martin Coffman. He had four sisters - Mary, Rebecca "Becky", Ann and Side. Eb and Bill ventured north settling in Knox County. They built a half-dugout near Seymour and began farming. Their operation prospered. Eb never married. After their mother's death, two of his sisters, Mary and Sidney came to live with Eb. These two sisters remained single. Eb was a shrewd businessman and became wealthy with farms, cotton gins and ranches. In September 1902, Eb moved to Sherman county and bought 3200 acres. Eb stocked his ranch with horses When Eb died, his estate went to his surviving brothers and two sisters.
