The Brainard Clipper (Brainard, Nebraska) 16 Jul 1942, Thu Page 5 Joseph J. Lanc Joseph J. Lanc was born August 24, 1898 on a farm near Brainard, the eldest son of Frank Lanc and Mary Topil, and passed away July 16, 1942, at the age of 44 years, 2 months and 21 days. He had been a semi-invalid for about three years but his last illness was diagnosed as scarlet fever. Private burial services were held Friday evening at St. Mary's cemetery, Dwight, and a requiem mass was celebrated at Dwight church of the Assumption on Saturday morning at 9:30 with the Rev. B. Bauer O.S.B. officiating at both. Mr. Lanc was married in October 1921 to Miss Antonia Coufal and to this union five children were born. They are Joseph, Georgia, Evelyn, Edmund and Rose, all of whom survive and reside a home with their mother. He also is survived by his parents and by four brothers, James and Edward of Brainard, Jacob of Garrison and Frederick of St. Paul, Minn., and four sisters, Mrs. Frank (Madeline) Pospisil and Mrs. George (Helen) Horacek of this community, Mrs. Louis (Verna) Walse of Burbank, Calif., and Mrs. Wm. (Laura) Krejci of Lincoln. Mr. Lanc was an honest, hard working man and a good husband and father, a member of the Catholic church and of the Holy Name Society.
