Bio

Frank was reportedly the very first of five boys who were the initial five residents of what became the internationally famous Boys Town in Nebraska. And he was the last surviving of those five boys. __________________________________ Jacob R. and Emily (Houdek) Hotovy and John and Emily (Houdek-Hotovy) Kresse Jacob R. Hotovy (born in 1904 near Dwight, Nebraska) and Emily Houdek (Born January 29, 1907 in Omaha) became parishioners of Dwight Assumption after being married at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Loma, Nebraska October 5, 1926. They lived on a farm five miles north of Dwight. They had two sons, Jacob P., living in Lincoln and Donald of Omaha and three daughters, Virginia (Mrs. Arthur Hoffbauer) of Brainard, Arlene (Mrs. Ray Grubbs) of Fort Worth, Texas and Angela (Mrs. James Kutka) of David City. Jacob R. Hotovy's ancestors immigrated from Bohemia in 1879. His dad, John Hotovy, born October 24, 1865, was one of the first settlers in the Dwight area. He was one of the pioneers who organized Assumption Parish, which originated in 1895. He was instrumental in the building of the church and generous in financial contributions. It was also his generosity that he financed the building of the Assumption School in 1921. Emily's ancestors immigrated from Czechoslovakia. Her dad, Charles J Houdek (born September 22, 1878) in Caslava, Czechoslovakia, and her mother, Antonia Raiter, was born April 11, 1880. Jacob R. Hotovy died on November 14, 1935, after a short illness. Emily (Houdek) Hotovy moved herself and her children to Omaha and lived there for several years. It was in Omaha Emily met and married John Kresse (born May 17, 1905). To this union, a daughter, Darlene (Mrs. Eugene Divis), was born. In 1939, they moved back to the farm north of Dwight and once again became parishioners of Assumption. They lived there the rest of their lives. John died on January 23, 1985, and Emily on December 15, 1986. (The Centennial History of Assumption Parish Dwight, Nebraska 1899-1999).
