The inscription on his marker mistakenly states he died December 24, 1917. 1900 census (Skull Creek Township, Butler County, Nebr.): John Kouma (August 1846, Bohemia, farmer, married 27 years), Katy (wife, January 1854, Bohemia, married 27 years, mother of two children, one living), Anton (son, January 1879, Bohemia, works for father on farm), Vaclav Rolenc (boarder, March 1872, Bohemia, farm labor), and Frank Rolenc (father, October 1817, Bohemia, widower), all immigrated to United States 1889. ''''''''''''''' The Brainard Clipper (Brainard, Nebr.), December 28, 1916, p. 5, col. 3 DWIGHT NEWS John Kouma died at the home of his son, Anton, about three miles southeast of town, Saturday, December 23rd, at the age of 70 years. Funeral services were held at the Catholic church in Dwight, on Tuesday, December 26th at 10 o'clock a.m., Rev. Father Pazourek officiating.
