According to his obituary his middle name was Charles but his World War I and II draft registration cards both say Cyril. Kobza, 80, Dwight Area Farmer Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, July 13, at Dwight Assumption Church for John Charles Kobza, 80, Dwight area farmer, who died Sunday, July 10, at his home following a heart attack. Officiating was a nephew, the Rev. Francis Novak, C.S.S.R. Music was by the church choir with Mrs. Albin Sypal organist. Members of the Catholic Workmen organization of which he was a member attended the services in a body. Pallbearers were five grandsons, Raymond Kobza, Jr., Bernard Krska, Eugene Zitek, and Robert and Daniel Hain, and one nephew, Joseph Novak. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery at Dwight. Relatives coming from a distance to attend the services were from Buffalo, N.Y., Liguori, Mo., Omaha, Lincoln, Columbus, Aurora, Amelia and Wahoo. John Charles Kobza, the son of John and Mary Novacek Kobza, was born Nov. 30, 1885, at Brainard. He received his education at Brainard and at the Grand Island Business College. He was married to Amelia Bartek, who preceded him in death. Three sons, Raymond, Julius and Jerry, were born to this union. On May 21, 1921, he was married at St. Mary's Church, Dwight, to Emma Novak. Six children were born to his union, John J., Henrietta, Dorothy, Gilbert, Rita and Lillian. Mr. Kobza was a farmer, lived near Brainard from 1885 to 1917, and then moved to a farm near Dwight where he resided until his death. He is survived by his wife, Emma; eight children, Raymond of Buffalo, N.Y., Julius of Sonoma, Calif., John J. of Columbus, Mrs. Henrietta Hain of Aurora, Mrs. Dorothy Mirovsky, Gilbert, Rita and Lillian of Dwight; two step-children, George Krska of Ulysses and Mrs. Anna Zitek of Dwight; three brothers, Method of Bruno, and Adolph and Ivan of David City; three sisters, Mary Nozicka of Bellwood, Ludmilla O'Daniel of Sunol, and Verna Styskal of Wahoo; 26 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, Amelia; one son, Jerry; one brother, Joseph; and two sisters, Rose and Frances.
