Paul O'Dell was born April 7, 1920 to Oscar and Stella O'Dell at Eminence, Missouri and departed this life on August 28, 1989 at the age of 69 years, 4 months and 21 days. Paul attended school in and around the Eminence area. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. On August 21, 1970 he was united in marriage to Thelma Williams. He had three sons by previous marriages: Jim of Texas, Jerry of Columbia, Missouri and Gary of St. Louis, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Following military duty, he worked for Brown Shoe Company in Steelville, Good Will Industries in St. Louis and as a custodian at the Shannon County Courthouse. Following his retirement, he kept busy cutting wood and doing odd jobs for people. He is survived by his wife, Thelma; sons, Jim, Jerry and Gary; one brother, Johnnie; one sister, Mae Russell; grandchildren; nieces; nephews; numerous cousins and friends. Paul will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him. He was a friendly, outgoing man who enjoyed visiting and joking with everyone. Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 30, at 10 am in the Duncan Funeral Chapel with Rev. Duane Goforth officiating. Interment was in Munsell Cemetery under the direction of the Duncan Funeral Home of Eminence.
