Birth year calculated from age at death. ''''''''''''' The Ulysses Dispatch , August 18, 1915, p. 3, col. 2 Little Child Falls In Water Tank and Drowns The people of Ulysses and vicinity were shocked and deeply grieved when the news came Sunday that Alice, the two-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Walla, living about four miles east of town, had been found drowned in the water tank at the home about nine o'clock Sunday morning. It appears that immediately after breakfast the children went to play in the yard and had been at play some time when Mr. Walla went to the barn for something. In passing the water tank, he glanced in and saw the form, but life was extinct when she was taken from the water. The other children, who are small, had not noticed her absence. This death comes as a great shock to both parents, and to the mother, who is very frail, it will prove unusually severe, although willing hands did all in their power to lessen her sorrow. The grief-stricken parents, together with the four surviving children, have the heartfelt sympathy of the community in their bereavement. The funeral services were held at the Catholic church at Ulysses, Tuesday morning, August 17, at 9:30 o'clock, the Rev. Father Loughran officiating after which the remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery near town. When we leave this world of changes, When we leave this world of care, We shall find our missing loved one In our Father's mansion fair. - E. B. L.
