Harold Herman Coffey, 89 of St. Edward, died Monday, August 6, 2012 at the Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward, NE. Harold, son of Grady Guy and Laura Maxine (Weissinger) Coffey, was born August 11, 1922 in Dardanelle, AR. Harold attended grade school there until 1932 when they moved to Henryetta, OK where he attended school through the 8th grade. Harold served during World War II, in the United States Army-Air force from August 8, 1942 until 1948. He was stationed at various command centers across the United States. While he was stationed at Harvard, Nebraska, he met Alice Labenz. On November 27, 1945, they were united in marriage at the St. Edward Catholic Church in St. Edward, Nebraska. They lived in Denver, Colorado before moving to Pueblo, Colorado in 1947. After Harold's honorable discharge from the Army-Air force in 1948, he worked for a GMAC dealership in Pueblo. In 1962, they moved to Salins, CA where Harold worked at Spreckles Sugar Company as a steam turbine operator. In 1974 he worked at A-1 Auto Wreckers and in 1984 they moved to St. Edward where he retired. He was a member of the St. Edward Catholic Church. Harold is survived by: brother: Robert Coffey and wife Joey of Pueblo, CO; sisters-in-law: Jane Coffey of Calhoun, GA; Mary Ann Greig of Burns, OR; and Florine Iverson of Clay Center, NE; brothers-in-law: Ralph Labenz and wife Lorene of St. Edward, NE and Jerry Labenz and wife Vernie of Omaha, NE, and a host of relatives and friends. Harold was preceded in death by: parents; wife, Alice Coffey, brother, James Coffey and sister, Evelyn Crawford.
