Thanks to contributor #48796369 Alice Martha Coffey, 78, of St. Edward died Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998, at the Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center in Albion. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Edward's Catholic Church in St. Edward. The Rev. Edward Gill will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at Levander Funeral Home in St. Edward. Mrs. Coffey was born on Feb. 11, 1920, in Humphrey to Conrad and Margaret (Holescher) Labenz. She attended school in Platte Center and various other locations up until the eighth grade. Following her education, she worked at the Naval Ammunition Plant in Hastings. She married Harold H. Coffey on Nov. 27, 1945, at St. Edward's Catholic Church. They lived in Denver until 1947, when they moved to Pueblo, Colo. She worked in sales at Kresses in Pueblo for four years. They moved to Salinas, Calif., in 1962, and she worked as a saleswoman at Woolworth's for 22 years. The couple moved back to St. Edward to retire in 1984. She entered the Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center on Oct. 21, 1998. She was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband; two sisters, Mary Ann Greig of Burns, Ore., and Florine (Mrs. Dick) Iverson of Clay Center; and two brothers, Ralph Labenz of St. Edward and Jerry Labenz of Omaha. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Irvin, Mark and Francis. The Grand Island Independent, Oct. 27, 1998
