Bio
Renee A. Janssen, 37, of Grand Island died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012, at St. Francis Medical Center. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Faith United Methodist Church. The Rev. Matthew Fowler will officiate. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the Greeley Cemetery at Greeley. Ms. Janssen was born Aug. 10, 1974, at Grand Island to Herman A. and Carolyn (Poppe) Janssen. Survivors of the immediate family include her mother, Carolyn Janssen of Grand Island; one brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Jill Janssen of Cairo; uncle and aunt, Paul and Pam Poppe of Jefferson, Ga.; uncle, Fred Janssen; her close friend, Michelle Marks of Grand Island; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends; and her special pet, Tiger. Renee grew up and attended school in Grand Island graduating from Grand Island Senior High School in 1992. She worked for 18 years at Pump and Pantry as a clerk and was promoted to store manager in 2006. Renee was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and active in Girl Scouts as a youth. She loved to play bingo, enjoyed dancing, was a NASCAR fan, and enjoyed collecting cow figurines. She was actively involved in the lives of her Godchildren, and routinely transported them to their many activities where she enjoyed being a spectator. Renee was also known as the family photographer. She was preceded in death by her father, Herman Janssen; her maternal grandparents, Odin and Leona Poppe; and her paternal grandparents, Otto and Ethel Janssen.
