Parents: Thomas Dalton and Sarah Roney Spouse: Theophilus Freyburger Obituary: Decatur Herald, Decatur, Illinois, 30 Jul 1928, Monday An obituary for Mrs. Eleanor Freyburger, of Decatur, states she had died Sunday [29 Jul 1928] from injuries she received the previous week near her home when she was struck by an automobile. Eleanor Dalton was born on a farm in Moultrie County near Bethany, May 26, 1858. She moved to Dalton City with her family and there was married to Theophilus Freyburger. The couple made their home in Shelbyville. Soon after her husband’s death in 1893, Mrs. Freyburger moved to Decatur and made a home there with her father, Thomas Dalton. Mr. Dalton came from England to America and was an early settler in Moultrie County. Mrs. Freyburger had lived in Decatur 18 years. She was a member of the Central Church of Christ. Surviving were her daughters, Mrs. Johnson and Miss Freyburger, who teaches in the Burbank Junior High School at Los Angeles and a son, Walter Freyburger, a prominent Chicago attorney; two sisters, Mrs. T. E. Shaw of Decatur and Mrs. M. E. Sconce of Bethany, and a brother, Walter Dalton of Bethany. Burial was in Shelbyville.
