Bio

Hazel Ellen Robinson was born to Bright Berry Ogg and Melinda Ellen (Redfern) Ogg on December 6, 1891, at Fairmont, and passed away on September 7, 1993, at Heritage of Geneva, at the age of 101 years, 9 months and 1 day. She was one of seven children in the family. Hazel moved with her family to Geneva in 1896. She was the youngest of seven children, five girls and two boys. Hazel’s sisters, Ora, Cecil, Josie, Chloe and her brothers, Claude and James have all passed away. Hazel attended school in Geneva, both elementary and high school. After graduating, Hazel became a teacher and taught school at District 60. Hazel met Lee Roy Robinson and later married him on September 30, 1914, in Hastings. Hazel and Lee Roy lived on several farms in the Geneva area, the last farm in the Benedict area. Hazel was a housewife, and enjoyed raising vegetable and flower gardens. Lee Roy and Hazel were blessed with two sons, Bernard, who passed away and David of Racine, Wi. Hazel also has five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Lee Roy passed away on October 10, 1973. Hazel continued to live in Hastings until October of 1989, when she moved to Heritage. Funeral services were conducted from the Farmer & Son Funeral Home on Saturday, September 11, with the Rev. Wanda Bennett officiating. Musical selections were “The Old Rugged Cross” and “The Lord’s Prayer.” Pallbearers were Lloyd Berman, Lawrence Weinerth, Gerald Krause, William Dunn, Larry Robinson, Larry Drake and Kenneth Ogg. Burial was in the Geneva Public Cemetery. The Nebraska Signal September 15th, 1993 page 19.
