He was known to everyone as "Buddy" and to a lot of his family as "Daddy Bud". Buddy was born Nov. 16, 1922, in Stamps, Texas. He was a graduate of New Diana High School, where in 1938, he participated in the first football game ever played and scored the first touchdown. During World War II, he served with the "Big Red 1" division and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. A life-long resident of Upshur County, he served as county constable for 29 years. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Diana. In 1985, he retired from LTV Corp. and spent his remaining years devoted to his wife Dollie Jane, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He and Dollie Jane were married on June 14, 1941. Buddy was preceded in death by his wife, Dollie Jane a daughter, Judy Carolyn his parents; one brother and one sister. He is survived by two daughters and one son, six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
