Bio
Services for Vera Dean Walker will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 13, 2012 at Hilliard Funeral Home with Stephen Hill officiating. A graveside service will follow at Union Chapel Cemetery. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Walker passed away at the age of 88 on July 10, 2012 in Mineola. Vera was born November 6, 1923 in Dallas, Texas to the late William Franklin Pool and Ethel Mae Blackburn Pool. She married Robert Earl Walker on August 2, 1946. She had been a resident of Garden Valley most of her life, while currently living in Mineola. She was a member of Van Church of Christ, enjoyed sewing and quilting, and was a marvelous cook. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Leroy Cooksey, Billy Pool and Donald Pool; and sister, Kay Broadway. Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Earl Walker of Mineola; two children, Fredda Carr and husband, Jack of Crosby, and Norma McDonald of Mineola; sisters, Edith Blackburn, Myrna __________, Jo Nell Ramsey, and Nadine LaTour; six grandchildren, Jake Carr, Rob Carr, Elisha Walt, Cindy Szolyga, Mark Walt and Julie Seely; eleven great-grandchildren, Hannah, Stephen, Joseph, Austin, Krista, Arrykka, Brittany, Kimberly, Kaitlyn, Sidney and Jacob; and one great-great-granddaughter, Alica.
