Betty Whittle Hejl, 78. On Thursday, July 12, 2012, our Lord and Savior called his devoted servant, Betty, back to her heavenly home where she may now nest with the angels. Visitation will be Friday, July 13, 2012, at Johnson's Funeral Home on July 13, 2012, with the family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2012, at The Heights Baptist Church with burial to follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. At the conclusion of services, the family will gather at Wall Brethren Church in Wall, Texas, for a celebration of Betty's life. Betty was born on June 16, 1934, in San Angelo, Texas. She went to Fairview School and graduated from San Angelo Central High School in 1951. She married the love of her life, Stanley Frank Hejl, on Jan. 28, 1954, and went on to have 58 years together. Betty was an active member of The Heights Baptist Church for 58 years and had a passion for studying Bible prophecy. She enjoyed teaching the kindergarten Sunday school class, delivering meals to those in need through the Meals on Wheels program and volunteering for Shannon Hospital. Betty was very creative and enjoyed designing and sewing clothes for her children, grandchildren and self. She also took pleasure in the activity of drawing and painting. Betty worked as a data key punch supervisor for General Telephone Co. for 34 years. She was a member of SPJST for 58 years. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Garnett and Francis Whittle. She is survived by her loving husband, Stanley Hejl, of the home; her two daughters, Renee Taylor and husband Steve Taylor of Denver City, Texas, Terry Curlee and her husband, Dale Curlee, of Long Beach, Miss.; three grandchildren, Jarryd Taylor and wife Laura Taylor of Denver City, Texas, Scarlett Taylor of Lubbock, Texas, and Chase Curlee of Long Beach, Miss.; two siblings: sister Jerrie Yeager of Houston, Texas, and brother John Whittle and wife Susan Whittle of Austin, Texas. Betty would wish for all; salvation in the Lord with peace and honor for all that is holy; Betty you will truly be missed.
