Higgins daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Higgins, was born December 27, 1885 on a farm near Hays and died February 23, 1968 at the Hadley Hospital in Hays. She grew up on a farm south of Hays and attended the rural school of the community. Here she grew to womanhood. She married Leonard A. Gilbert, December 27, 1908 and to this union three sons were born. She moved with her husband to the Bill Phillips ranch where he worked for a period of ten years. In 1926 they moved to a farm one mile east of McCracken where they lived until they retired and moved to town. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons Clarence and Walton; four brothers; two sisters, one being her identical twin; and her husband Leonard. Her son Harold 'Hap' Gilbert, three sisters, Mrs. Edna Moore, Mrs. Mabel Mauth and Mrs. Nellie Groff and brother Fred Higgins survive her. Burial in the McCracken City Cemetery.
