Don WM Carmack was born to Robert Jay Carmack and Cora Ellen Byrd on 22 Sep.1923 in Eastland Co. Texas. At the age of 19,Don joined the Navy on 10 October 1942 . He was released from the Navy on 20 Dec. 1945. He Married Virginia Trowbridge on 31 Dec 1952 in Portland, Texas and they had 5 boys and 1 girl. All the children were born in San Patricio County, Texas. Don was a lineman for West Texas Utilities. He came in contact with high voltage wire while working on a pole and he fell from the pole. Don died from his injuries. It happens on Highway 36, 6 miles SE of Abilene, Texas. When Don WM Carmack was born on September 22, 1923, in Eastland, Texas, his father, Robert, was 30 and his mother, Cora, was 26. He had three brothers and three sisters. He died on April 19, 1974, in Abilene, Texas, at the age of 50, and was buried in Early, Texas. Thanks Norm for the information. His birth name was Don WM Carmack..... Anyone looking at that would immediately think it was Don William.... but it actually was only "WM"...never anything more. Don's original birth certificate had no first name....it was later changed to Don "WM" Carmack.... the "WM" was in recognition of the Doctor who delivered him.... whose name was "William Mack".....the family took his initials (no periods) and used it as Don's Middle Name. He was always known only as Don WM Carmack.
