Bio

Caroline Elizabeth (Cotnam) Graves, 81, died Sunday, August 7, 1977 at Pershing Memorial Hospital in Brookfield, Mo. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Wright Funeral Home, Brookfield, conducted by the Rev. Dallas Williams. Burial will be at the Price Cemetery, Winigan. Visitation will be at the funeral home beginning Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Graves was born in Umpire, Arkansas, Nov. 2, 1895, the daughter of John and Suda (Jacobs) Contnam. She was married to Walter Paul Graves June 24, 1916. She is survived by her husband, of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Birdie Baker, Brookfield, Mrs. Audrey Zumwalt, Mission Hills, Calif., and Mrs. Barbara Conley, Kirksville; four sons, Walter J. Graves, Cove, Ark., Quentin Graves, Chula Vista, Calif., Charles Graves, LaVerne, Calif., and Billy Joe Graves, Charleston, S.C.; a number of grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, tow brothers, Henderson Cotnam, Winston, Ore., ,Andrew Cotnam, Albany, Ore.; and a sister, Dorothy Jones, Battiest, Okla. A daughter, Mamie Carolyn Schreckhise, and a granddaughter, Cheryl Moffitt, preceded her in death. Mrs. Graves lived in Arkansas and California before coming to Brookfield in 1968. She was a member of Lincoln Acres Community Church, National City, Calilf.
