The Victoria Advocate, January 24, 2002: Edna Louise Legler, 78, of Wharton, died Tuesday, January 22, 2002. She was born Nov. 4, 1923 in Runge to the late Victor Joseph and Alma Marie Beken Piwetz. She worked for Southern Pacific in various switching stations during WWII. She was a retired electronic operator for Texas Instruments and was very active in the Lutheran League. She was a former member of St. Paul Lutheran Women's Circle and member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Survivors: husband, Bruno William Legler; daughter, Debra Caston of Lewisville; sons, Victor Legler of Katy, Larry Legler of Wharton, Don Legler of Brighton, Tenn., and Mark Legler of Fort Worth; and eight grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents. Visitation will be after 9 a.m. today at the funeral home chapel. Family visitation will be 5-8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home chapel. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wharton, the Rev. Paul Kersten officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park. Wharton Funeral Home, Wharton. 979-532-3410.
