Hazel Ingraham was born September 19, 1895 at Farnam, Nebraska to William and Alice Adams VanHorn and died March 14, 1985 at the Valley County Nursing Home in Ord, Nebraska at the age of 89. On February 3, 1915, she was united in marriage to John Ingraham of Ord. They farmed in the North Loup area until 1956 when they retired and moved to North Loup. John died December 12, 1961. Hazel continued to make her home in North Loup until May 1, 1980 when she entered the Ord Rest Home. This was her home until January 1, 1985 when she was transferred to the Valley County Nursing Home. She was a member of the Seventh Day Baptist Church at North Loup. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Hulda Jones of Apache Junction, AZ; four sons, Weldon of North Loup, David of Ogden, UT, Alvin of Omaha and Frank of Holdrege; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Alma Walkup of North Loup; and two brothers, Lloyd and Sheldon VanHorn, both of North Loup. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four sons and two brothers. Funeral services were held Monday, March 18, 1985 at 2 p.m. at the Seventh Day Baptist Church in North Loup with the Reverend Mynor Soper officiating. The organist was Louise Brennick and the soloist was Jeanne Abel. Pallbearers were Bill Van Horn, Dwaine Van Horn, Merlyn Van Horn, Gordon Walkup, Rodney Sperling, and Walker Tolfa. Burial was in the Hillside Cemetery at North Loup. Ord Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be given to the Seventh Day Baptist Church or the Cancer Fund.
