DEATH CALLS MRS PADDOCK Last Rites Performed for Granda Paddock Eliza Jane Manchester was born at West Hoosick, N.Y., June 14th, 1841. She was the daughter of Iram Manchester and Angeline Lawton Manchester. She was the 8th child in a family of ten children, seven sons, and three daughters. At the age of sixteen years, she gave her heart to God and United with the Methodist Church at Hoosick Falls, N.Y., remaining true to her Master and faithful to her church as long as health and opportunity permitted. She was a graduate of Fort Edward's College in Troy, N.Y. On March 24th, 1808, she was united in marriage with J. Thomas Paddock. Their home for one year was near Lake Erie in Western New York. They then moved to Grundy County, Illinois, where they lived for thirteen years. It was here that their three sons were born. William of National City, Calif, Walter and Ernest of North Loup, Neb. From Grundy county the family moved by immigrant train to Sherman County, Nebr., where they lived for one year on the farm now the home of Edwin Manchester. In the fall of 1882, the family bought the farm east of the village of North Loup and now occupied by J.W. Kildow, which was the family's home for sixteen years. Mrs. Paddock was a charter member of the Methodist church of this place and, in earlier years, was interested in the activities of her church. She was an exceptionally able Bible student, possessed a keen mind and a retentive memory, and was an interesting conversationalist. For several years past, she had been afflicted with a cancerous growth on the face, which, tho not the cause of her death, caused her much trouble at times. On November 3rd, she was taken sick and confined to her bod for about three weeks, after which time she was able to be up and around until last Wednesday after her monrning meal, she went to sleep, remaining in a stupor until death came at two o'clock a.m., January 16, at the age of 89 years, 7 months and 2 days. Her husband passed away about fourteen years ago. Mrs. Paddock was the last of ten chidlren to pass away, her youngest brother, Byron Manchester, having died in Kansas last December 5th. While one of the brothers died at the age of 35, the average age of the ten at the time of death was about 77 years. She leaves to mourn her passing three sons, eighteen grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the M.E. Church Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Schwabauer preaching the sermon from John 14-2. "If it were not so, I would have told you." Music was furnished by a quartet consisting of R.W. Hudson, Donald Fisher, Mrs. G. W.
