William MANCHESTER was born in Rensselaer County, NY Sept. 14 1829, and died at his home in South Warren, Pa. Nov.23, 1902. When twenty-four years old he came to South Warren to live, working for some time in a flax mill then in operation. In 1857, he experienced religion and united with the Methodist and Episcopal church. He remained a member until called to his reward. For a number of years he served in the important position as class leader. He was a strong advocate of temperance, being for a number of years a staunch Prohibitionist. July 21st, 1858, he was united in marriage with Miss Adeline J. Dimon, by Rev. Edgar Sibley, one of the older Methodist ministers of Wyoming Conference. Two children were born to them, one dying while quite young, the other now the wife of George Lyons (Edith) of South Warren. Brother Manchester was of a family of ten children. Eight are yet living. We shall miss him from the church and community. Who will take his place that the ranks may be kept full?
