He lived there until he was twelve years of age. His parents then moved to West Fork, Iowa. Here Mr. Jenkins grew to manhood. He was married to Miss Elizabeth Kenzel of Sheffield, Iowa, September 1, 1878. Eight children were born to this union. Six are living and two died in infancy. Those living are Mrs. David Alters and Mrs. Willard White of Grand Island, Nebraska, Mrs. H. D. Cook of Jerome, Idaho, Mrs. Joe Krwanek of Long View, Washington, Mrs. Antone Gradoville of Ovina, Nebraska, and Glenn Jenkins of Wendell, Idaho. Mr. Jenkins first wife passed away in Sheffield in 1894. He was married in 1896 to Miss Carrie Scott of Sheffield, Iowa, taking his family to Meadow Grove, Nebraska, in 1901. He resided there until 1909. He made his home in Canyon City, Texas, a few years. The climate broke his health and he moved to Grand Island, Nebraska. He made his home there until 1915 when he took his family to a farm five miles north east of North Loup. Here he remained until his death April 11. Mr. Jenkins was a member of the Methodist church which he joined in early manhood. He will always be remembered as a man who loved his home. He farmed nearly all his life, and loved his life's work. He was a loving father and husband to the very last. Mr. Jenkins had good health until the last year. He failed slowly but was not sick until the last of December. He suffered much since then, but bore his burden in a wonderful manner always patient and cheerful, ready to help those all he could has been his nature in sickness and in health. He leaves to mourn, his wife, thirteen children, twenty-five grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, one brother, Frank Jenkins of Tilden, Nebraska, and a number of other relatives and many friends.
