Thanks to contributor #47247306; John A. Torczon, 60, Columbus businessman died Sunday morning at St. Joseph's hospital in Omaha after a lingering illness. Funeral Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Bonaventure with burial in the parish cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Fr. Andrew Augustine of St. Libroy. The body will lie in state at the McKown Funeral Home after 1 p.m. Tuesday until the hour of the services. Relatives will pray the rosary at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the McKown chapel and a parish rosary will be said at 9:15 p.m. Tuesday. Mr. Torczon, son of the late John and Mary Augustine Torczon, was born Feb. 8, 1897 at Tarnov. He attended St. Michael's parochial school at Tarnov, St. Joseph's school at Tuetopolis, IL and Boyles Business school in Omaha. In 1917, he married Clara Zipper and they lived at Silver Creek until 1922, when they moved to Tarnov, where he was associated with the Tarnov bank until 1934. Moving to Columbus in 1935, Mr. Torczon worked in the county clerks office for seven years, then engaged in farming and livestock raising for six years. For the past several years he has been associated with his son, Lawrence, in operating Double T Bar. His wife Clara, died in 1941, and in 1943, he married Helen Gerharz. She preceded him in death in 1950. Mr. Torczon was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, Holy Name Society and Wayside Country Club. Surviving are his sons; Lawrence and John, four grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs John Liss and Mrs. E. Zoucha all of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his brother, Stanley and his sisters, Mrs. Agnes Nosal, Mrs Antonia Kudron, Mrs. Mary Liss, Mrs. Josephine Koziol, Mrs. Sophia Syslo and Mrs. Anna Rosno.
